Welcome to the Your Well-being Project newsletter.
Who am I?
My name is Carly. I am a well-being coach and the founder of Your Well-being Project newsletter. I embarked on my healing journey after suffering from severe burnout. Burning the candle at both ends while in a leadership role at a startup eroded my physical and mental health. That incident served as the catalyst that motivated me to explore and work toward embodying a healthier and more aligned lifestyle. In the process, I discovered the practice of Transcendental Meditation. This silent practice raised my awareness and magnified other areas that needed work to enhance my overall life fulfillment and health.
Over the past three years, I've read many psychology and self-development books, processed in therapy, explored various wellness modalities, adopted a consistent cardio routine, adopted a healthier diet, developed more empathy and kindness toward myself and others, and reevaluated my values and work I want to contribute to the world.
Reflecting on everything I've learned and integrated into my life over the past four years, I felt inspired to share. It's been a long journey that continues to unfold. Transformation runs the course of our lifetime, and I am embracing the lessons learned along the way.
What is Your Well-being Project?
Your well-being project is a space where I will share resources and content for busy, Black & Brown professionals looking to enhance their well-being by leading healthy and fulfilled lives. The continuous evolution of our self-development and prioritization of our well-being is the most important project we could ever pursue. Our well-being impacts how we show up in the world for ourselves, others, and our work.
What can you expect from the Your Well-being Project newsletter?
Well-being is holistic. I am fascinated by the interconnected parts contributing to our health and fulfillment as fully embodied human beings. This bi-monthly newsletter will explore topics such as the impact of healthy interpersonal connections, mindfulness, mental health, physical health, life design, various wellness modalities, etc. Interpersonal connections are a topic that I'm excited to explore more in-depth. The quality of our relationships has a significant impact on our well-being. I’m also excited to share updates and experiences from my well-being journey as I continue creating my ideal life design.
Why is this work important?
We often neglect our wholeness as human beings in pursuit of external validation for others and career achievements. While hard work is required to achieve our goals, society has taken grind culture to the extreme. How can we set better boundaries and create systems to help us achieve our goals without abandoning ourselves? We only get one life and one body to take us through it. The better our physical and mental health, the more prepared we are to show up as our best selves for our loved ones; we'll also have the fuel to go the distance in life to enjoy the fruits of our efforts.
